Study of electric mobility development in Viet Nam

Report for NDC Transport Initiative for Asia

Under the scope of the NDC-TIA project, this assessment aims to identify current context, challenges, and opportunities with regards to electric mobility development in order to develop and improve the regulatory framework at both national and local levels. In addition, the existing sustainable transport policies are also reviewed and examined to assess the level of readiness to adopt electric mobility in Viet Nam.

The assessment targets not only relevant policy-makers, national, and local authorities but also the private sector, NGOs, and public consumers in order to enhance the awareness and knowledge on the necessity of climate-friendly mobility.

This is expected to provide the policy-makers with essential information to design the regulation framework and policies to promote uses of electric vehicles (EVs); it also sparks ideas among relevant enterprises and consumers on the investment and consumption of EVs in Viet Nam. NGOs could also use the information in this assessment as an insight on the local issues and challenges in EV development and provide suitable support to foster EV adaptation in Viet Nam.
