eVolve: Boosting Vocations for the Vehicles of the Future

The project Training and capacity building of automotive specialists for electric and autonomous vehicles aims to improve the employability of young people in the field of automotive electromobility in Northeast Mexico. It addresses the growing demand for qualified professionals caused by the transformation of the automotive sector towards electric, autonomous and software-defined vehicles.

The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ, in partnership with ZF Group as the main private sector partner. Universities, industrial associations and government institutions are involved as additional partners. A cross-cutting gender approach promotes the participation of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

The project activities include:

  • Development and adaptation of university curricula together with local higher education institutions.
  • Capacity building for professors and students through master classes, training-of-trainers and international exchanges. Internships for students in the automotive industry to gain practical experience.
  • Establishment and consolidation of laboratories for electric and autonomous vehicle technologies.
  • Continuous exchange with industry and government to identify required skills and support policy development.
