As the world transitions towards sustainable transport, Africa is leading the change in its own way. We present individuals from across the continent who are making a real impact and advancing the sustainable future of mobility in Africa.
These changemakers are delivering impact across the transport ecosystem. They are applying technology to optimise public transport, transforming walking and cycling, developing sustainable urban mobility plans, promoting women’s participation in the transport sector, rethinking transport governance, and championing innovative solutions such as electric mobility.
What unites these Catalysts for Change is their courage and conviction. They challenge the status quo, innovate despite limited resources, and learn through experimentation. They are also united by a shared belief: Africa can move better. Together, they are working to design transport systems for and with Africans — systems that enable equitable access, economic opportunity, and a climate-resilient future for the continent.
