The Freight Greenhouse Gas Calculator is an online tool developed by Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Government of India to create awareness and promote sustainability in the freight transport planning process and shift towards low-carbon modes of transport.
It is a simple and easy-to-use tool for calculating and comparing total cost of transportation and GHG emissions between various modes of freight transport (road, rail, inland waterways and aviation) for a fixed Origin-Destination Pair. It aims to induce a behavioural change amongst users towards sustainable choices by supporting them to make an informed decision based on financial and environmental cost estimates.
It will be useful for both public and private sector enterprises to fullfill the objective of green and sustainable logistics in India.
