This study aims to present the national context and framework for fuel economy in Colombia. It provides information on the transport sector and the automotive industry, vehicle testing and data management processes in the country, and existing vehicle regulations. The report indicates the quality of all information sources and provides a summary of all vehicle efficiency regulations (as of May 2024).
The study was carried out as part of the IMPROVE project. This project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and is affiliated to the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The main objective of the IMPROVE project is to accelerate the phase-out of internal combustion engines, thereby promoting the transition to zero-emission vehicles and improving overall energy efficiency.
El objetivo de este estudio es presentar el contexto nacional y el marco para el ahorro de combustible en Colombia. Proporciona información sobre el sector del transporte y la industria automovilística, así como los procesos de pruebas de vehículos y la gestión de datos en el país. Además, resume las normativas vigentes relacionadas con los vehículos (hasta mayo de 2024).
Se ha llevado a cabo en el marco del proyecto IMPROVE, financiado por el Ministerio Federal de Medio Ambiente, Conservación de la Naturaleza y Seguridad Nuclear de Alemania, y afiliado a la Iniciativa Internacional sobre el Clima (IKI). El objetivo principal del proyecto IMPROVE es acelerar la eliminación gradual de los motores de combustión interna, promoviendo así la transición hacia vehículos de emisiones cero y mejorando la eficiencia energética a nivel global.
