This study examines the technical, economic, and regulatory feasibility of repurposing electric vehicle (EV) batteries for second-life applications in Kenya. It evaluates battery health, cost-effectiveness, and safety, while assessing formal and informal sector practices and the country’s policy framework. Drawing on case studies from Kenya and international examples, the report proposes measures to enhance end-of-life management, introduce battery passports, and strengthen regulatory compliance for sustainable reuse.
