Growing levels of vehicle ownership, missing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and large numbers of road fatalities pose important urban mobility challenges in Thailand today. This report assesses urban mobility and presents an inventory of urban mobility systems and mobility planning in Thailand.
The objective of the report is to provide a basis upon which a National Urban Mobility Programme (NUMP) could be developed in order to overcome many of the current urban mobility issues in Thailand and reduce CO2 emissions. In particular, the report focuses on opportunities such as the improvement of transport demand management, the enhancement of public transport services or the development of funding mechanisms to support local governments.
