Promotion of Inclusive and Sustainable Urban Mobility in Colombia (ProMOVIS)

Transforming Urban Mobility in Intermediate Cities

ProMOVIS, aims to build solutions that allow both decarbonizing urban mobility in Colombia and improving access, capacities, and service level for sustainable and inclusive urban mobility development. It aims to support the implementation of policies and strategies, the development of financing mechanisms as well as building platforms and capacities and thus contributes to implementing the Paris Agreement and the National Development Plan.

In six intermediate cities ProMOVIS develops pilots to improve public transportation, promote active mobility, use digitalization tools and other mobility solutions.

ProMOVIS is implemented by GIZ and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany.

ProMOVIS works at national and city level in the implementation of policies, strategies, capacities and innovative pilot projects for sustainable urban transport:

  • Improving the technical and regulatory framework and promoting financing instruments for sustainable urban mobility at national level.
  • Strengthening the institutional capacities of medium-sized cities on sustainable mobility, in the implementation of sustainable mobility projects as well as to increase public awareness and ownership towards inclusive low carbon solutions.
  • Building capacities in public administrations and private actors to implement sustainable urban mobility applications and strengthening of coordination mechanisms and development of communication strategies.
