Key Insights on Transport at COP30

27 November 2025

Time: 4:00 PM - 5:15 PM (Europe/Berlin)
Location: online on zoom

The purpose of this webinar is to provide a concise and strategic overview of the main outcomes of COP30 in transport.

Language(s): English, Spanish and Portuguese

Organised by:
GIZ, SomosLAC and SLOCAT

The session will then delve into one of the most significant milestones that took place outside the formal negotiation process: the launch of the ministerial declaration led by Chile and endorsed by eleven countries —Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Austria, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia and Chile. This declaration sets out a global effort so that, by 2035, total energy demand from transport is reduced by one quarter and the share of renewable energy and sustainable biofuels is increased to one third. With this, the aim is to accelerate climate action within the sector and position it as a central actor in the transition toward carbon neutrality. To address this milestone, the webinar will feature the participation of the Chilean Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, who will share his views on the importance of this initiative and on the future of sustainable transport in Latin America and worldwide. Finally, the webinar will place these developments within a broader perspective. On one hand, Maruxa Cardama, Secretary General of SLOCAT, will review how the role of transport has evolved within the COP framework over the years, and how the sector has gained increasing relevance in the climate agenda. On the other hand, the session will examine how the commitments reached can be translated into concrete actions in the context of the third generation of NDCs, reviewing the work carried out by the NDC Transport Tracker.
