On 14 November at 10:00 a.m. local time in Brazil, the Declaration “TOWARDS RESILIENT AND LOW-EMISSIONS TRANSPORT SYSTEMS FOR PEOPLE, DEVELOPMENT AND THE PLANET” was officially launched at COP30 in Belém, during an event hosted in the Chilean Pavilion, followed by a well-attended press conference. The moment marked a significant milestone for the global effort to strengthen climate action in the transport sector.
The Declaration is endorsed by Chile, Brazil, Honduras, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Slovenia, Costa Rica and Austria, reflecting a strong and diverse coalition united in accelerating the transition toward resilient, low-emission mobility.
The launch featured interventions from prominent government representatives, including Juan Carlos Muñoz, Minister of Transport of Chile; Jader Barbalho Filho, Minister of Cities of Brazil; representatives from the Ministry of Cities of Brazil; the Vice Ministers of Costa Rica and Honduras; and delegations from Norway, Portugal and the Dominican Republic. Their contributions underscored the urgency of coordinated international action to advance sustainable, inclusive transport systems that support both climate and development goals.
