Position:
Intern
Location:
Republic of the Marshall Islands, Majuro
I am currently studying the Master’s in Development Studies and Diplomacy at the University for Peace, in cooperation with UNITAR. My academic path is supplemented by international volunteer experience on Tarawa, Kiribati. This has fostered a deep and abiding interest in the Pacific and deepened my connection with sustainability and transformation processes induced by environmental factors.
My experiences in the Pacific have helped my awareness of how deeply connected communities and the ocean are, in particular with regard to adverse conditions instigated by change. I am therefore quite fascinated with the efforts of the GIZ Project on decarbonizing maritime shipping, as it brings traditional knowledge and new ideas into play to develop solutions that should also be inclusive and environmentally friendly.
As an intern within the GIZ Team in Majuro, I look forward to contributing toward sustainable maritime collaboration in a region that has shaped my academic and personal path. I am excited about learning from GIZ professionals while pursuing innovative, low-emission solutions for the maritime challenges across the Pacific.
