Ragina Gitau

Position: Intern
Location: Germany, Bonn

Joining the Transport and Climate Change Team here in Bonn feels like a full circle moment. In 2022, I had the opportunity to support the Transport and Climate Change Week as the Africa Hub Correspondent, which I like call my debut to the world of sustainable transport. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Maseno University, Kenya. Currently, I am finalizing a MSc in Infrastructure Planning at the University of Stuttgart with a specialization in transport planning and project financing.

Prior to moving abroad for my studies, I had gained diverse professional experience on urban finance, just mobility and spatial planning particularly in Sub-saharan Africa.

Born and raised in Kenya where mobility systems are still working towards efficiently and safely moving people, and now living in Germany, I have come to appreciate the value in investing in well-planned and user-centric transport systems. Having these two lived experiences is my core drive towards contributing to shaping the future of mobility here at GIZ. My interests particularly lie in active mobility, road safety and climate finance.
