In cities worldwide, we estimate a shortage of at least 250,000 specialized transport and mobility experts, with further expertise required in cross-cutting areas such as urban planning, climate change, and energy. People are our most valuable asset in ensuring a socially just transformation and decarbonization of the transport sector. At TUMI, I coordinate our capacity development efforts and engage with colleagues worldwide to drive change. As part of GIZ’s transport and mobility team, I have worked in various positions in Germany, Mexico, and Ukraine.

As a graduated transport economist, I consider incorrect price signals to be another major barrier to the development of high-quality transport services and infrastructure. We will only tackle climate change if we get the prices right!
