Frederik Strompen

I am Project Lead in GIZ’s Transport and Climate Change team, working on the global transformation towards sustainable transport. Before my current role, I led the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) and worked for the City of Cologne, first as Mobility Advisor in the Mayor’s Office and later as Chief of Staff in the Department of Transport. I have been working with GIZ for many years, including around nine years in Africa and Asia.

With a background in transport economics and environmental economics, my work focuses on transport policy, sustainable mobility, e-mobility and the transition towards zero-emission transport. I am particularly interested in how international cooperation can help turn ambitious climate and transport targets into practical solutions that also deliver economic and social benefits.
