Francis Xavier Kanabure

Position: Technical Officer
Location: Pacific Region, Republic of the Marshall Islands

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of the South Pacific. Growing up on a low-lying island nation in the South Pacific, I witnessed firsthand the profound challenges and hardships caused by climate change. These personal experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to understanding and addressing environmental issues, guiding my educational and career choices.

I was particularly drawn to join GIZ because of its leadership in transforming sea transport—from traditional fuel-based vessels to innovative hybrid alternatives—that reduce emissions and create a more sustainable future for Pacific communities. Now, as part of the GIZ team, I am dedicated to contributing my best efforts to the Low Sea Carbon Transport project in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

As someone from a Pacific Island nation, I am acutely aware of our region’s vulnerability to climate change impacts. This motivates me to actively support innovative and sustainable solutions that address the unique challenges faced by our communities. I am eager to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to help drive meaningful progress for a resilient and sustainable Pacific.
