Transport leads emissions in many countries.

Transport is the fastest-growing source of emissions, increasing by 1.7% per year since 1990; faster than any sector except industry. Today, it is the largest source of GHG emissions in nearly half of all countries worldwide (~45%).

Transport remains underrepresented in climate plans.

Although transport is a major and growing emitter, only 30% of active Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) include specific GHG transport targets.

The NDC Transport Tracker is developed by GIZ Transport and the SLOCAT Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport. It is part of the Mobilize Net-Zero project that is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
