Do you know someone who is driving the transformation of transport in Africa? The 2025 edition of the Catalysts for Change: Champions Paving the Way for Sustainable Transport in Africa is now open, inviting nominations of individuals who are driving change across the continent’s mobility landscape.
A sustainable transport sector in African countries must be accessible to all and climate friendly. It requires both international attention and African solutions.

Organised by GIZ and Agora Verkehrswende, under the Rethinking Transport Project, this initiative seeks to shine a spotlight on individuals across the African continent who are transforming transport systems to make them more sustainable, equitable, and resilient. From innovators pioneering the electrification of public transit systems to policymakers championing walkable cities and the implementation of sustainable urban mobility plans, the initiative celebrates those who are making real impact on the ground.
We are calling on to professionals, entrepreneurs, NGOs, community leaders, private sector players and members of the public to nominate the unsung heroes reimagining the future of mobility in Africa. The finalists will be celebrated in a flagship publication, which will showcase their contributions and share their inspiring stories across the continent and beyond.
